#108 Oilfield production manifold valving for improved sealing, longer service-life, ease of operation and reduced maintenance.  Opportunity: In March of 1994 Tufline Sleeved Plug Valves were installed in an oil production manifold alongside lubricated plug valves and ball valves. This was the beginning of a closely monitored six-month test period. The production company had decided to try the Tufline sleeved plug valves because of a number of benefits they offered: More compact and lighter in weight. (This is especially important on an offshore platform.) Easier to install. Easier to operate (One man versus the two or three usually required with the other types of valves). The 2 inch square hub allows use of the same wrench as other valves. No maintenance and no lubrication needed. Due to superior sealing, they provide a longer, virtually leak-free service life.  Results: Tufline Sleeved Plug Valves proved superior in every evaluation criteria in the test.
